My Parents and My Future

Who is the person that first taught you how to walk and speak?

Who is the person that first taught you how to be independent?

Who is the person that first taught you how to be a brave and honest one?

Who is the person that first imbued you with the belief that knowledge will make your future brighter?

There is no doubt the answer is our parent.

Parents are said to be the earliest teacher of our life. If I regard my life as a boat, my parents are the sails of the boat; they lead me to the right direction to the future.

Look back on my past; every great memory comes into my mind. I still remember when I was five years old, one day my parents said to me seriously, ”you should study hard now, it’s the best way for you to go out of the small village and to experience a different life in a prosperous city ”. My parents are strict with me in my study, but they are not the kind of person who would keep me studying in door for all day, on the contrary they will give me enough freedom to do what I like. For example, knowing that music is to my liking, they bought a DVD player for me. When I was too tired to study, I could enjoy the music to relax myself. It seems that they know how to attract me to study rather than force me to do so.

Besides my study, my parents are also strict with me in forming good virtues. They set a good example for me; they taught me the lesson by action. From what they have done for my grandparents, I learned to be dutiful. From the way they treat people who once hurt them; I knew how to be tolerant. From the sympathy they showed to the poor person, I learned to generous and kind.

I bore in mind what my parents have taught me and spared no efforts to study; finally I entered the best high school in my hometown. Life in high school was a great challenge for me. I was a boarder at school and I could go back only once a month. At first I felt so homesick that I could hardly concentrate on my study. It was just at that time my parents taught me another lesson---Be independent. They made me believe that I was just like a small bird and I should fly freely and independently in my own sky. In high school and university, sometimes I met some problems; it’s my parents who taught me how to deal with the setbacks. They told me “life is just like a mirror, if you smile to it, it will smile back to you. So when you are in face of some troubles, you shouldn’t withdraw or discourage, instead you should try your best to deal with the problem and draw a lesson from it, which is the most important thing”.

Yes, that is my parent. They help me pave the way for the future, no matter what I am going to be in the future, the knowledge I learned from them will be a vast sea of wealth and will benefit me for all my life.

Behind me is the silent support of my parents, in front of me is the bright way to the future, I’m sure if I try my best, the excellent future will embrace me.
